Effects of Low Level Laser Therapy
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
has been investigated for clinical use since the 1960s. One of the first uses was to treat hair loss or alopecia. Since then thousands of studies have been done to find the biological effects of light therapy.
Red light and Near-Infrared-Light reduce inflammation and pain.
When there is pain there is inflammation. LLLT works by increasing cell energy (ATP) by 200-300%. Furthermore, LLLT using near infrared light reduces pain sensation. Because LLLT increases the availability of stem cells, regeneration of damaged tissue starts and the underlying condition causing the pain repairs.
The indication for Low Level Laser Therapy is wide, as many especially pain full and degenerative conditions are due to inflammation:
Ongoing research for the successful application of LLLT reveals more and more indications through clinical trials and the above lists is certainly not yet complete.
